Introducing Jacob Pitor Sorensen

My sweet new baby boy, Jacob, 20 minutes after he joined the outside.

Today, I woke up one day past my due date and wanting things to get going as I'm getting more uncomfortable every day. I am also wanting to go into hiding since I'm really tired of the comments on how big I am and the fact that I haven't had this baby yet. My doctor appointment was this morning and it looked like nothing was going to start happening anytime soon, so my doctor had me on the wait list for Monday, April 5 since she was on call.

Mike had taken the day off, so he was with the boys in the car and I came out feeling dejected and bummed that I was going to have to wait a few more days. We took the boys to Starbucks for a little treat before heading home. I decided I would take a nap once we got home since I didn't have anything else pressing that needed to be done.

I woke up from my nap about 2 and not really hungry, but I munched on a few chips and called it good. As I was chatting with Mike, I noticed that I was having some contractions and didn't think much about it, but they kept coming and were about 5 minutes apart, so I called the hospital and they told me to come in since it was my third. I called grandma who was out showing a house, so I had to call grandpa who turned his car around and met us at his house.

I was officially admitted into the hospital at 4:20 pm and my labor was starting to really get going, but I wasn't impressing my nurse and she started talking about sending me home. I was thinking as I was strapped onto the monitor that no way I was going home today, I'm having this baby. My labor was continuing to progress because with each contraction, I was hurting and not able to talk through it. At this point I was walking around the room a little and leaning against the counter when a contraction hit.

At 5:30, my nurse went on dinner break and another nurse came in to stay with me. As she was getting the tub ready, I sat down on the bed and my water broke. Hallelujah and I'm ready to push. Well, my water broke at 5:34 pm and I got everyone scrambling. Dr Morrell showed up and as they were trying to get everything set up, I'm telling them I'm ready to push. Of course, the doctor doesn't want me to push and I'm like, yeah right. Sorry, but this kid's coming and at 5:39 pm, I found out that we have baby boy number three.

I was absolutely thrilled to meet my little guy and he was placed directly on me. Such wonderful, treasured, selfish time I had with him. At that point it was just Mike, the baby and I and the rest was all background noise. Everyone wanted to know the name of the baby, which we hadn't decided on as of yet. So after a couple of minutes of discussion and me informing Mike I really like the name Jacob, we decided on Jacob Pitor.

Actually, the middle name had been decided before baby came, but we hadn't totally decided on the first name. Mike picked out the spelling of Pitor (pronounced Peter) and I thought it was cool. The other two boys have strong, biblical names, so this time we went with the biblical name, but changed up the middle name.

After a couple of hours of complete selfish time with Jake, we started calling our family and letting them know of the good news. When we called my parents, Papa was so excited he dropped the phone and hung up on us, haha. My brothers were having dinner together, so killed two birds with one phone call. Of course, grandma wanted to bring the boys over right away, but grandpa had to come later as he was assisting with communion during the Good Friday service at church.

Mike met the boys in the hallway to introduce Jacob to Andy and Aaron, so I missed the reactions, but both of them were excited to see mom and I got a few great hugs. Here is a shot of all my guys together. Mike and his three sons :)
