We had three nights together as a family away from yard work and general busyness we manage to get ourselves in. It was nice to just hang out, hike a couple of trails around the area and enjoy God's beauty. If you would like to see more photos, check out our smugmug site.

Camping at Orcas Island
On Friday morning, I was out having coffee with a girlfriend while our kiddos were playing, Mike called me and asked if we had any plans for the weekend. His boss had made reservations nearly a year ago for a specific camp site on Orcas Island they were not going to be able to use. We headed home, literally threw our camping gear in the car and headed north to catch the 6:30 ferry. The camp site was fantastic, although not the best side for a 19 month old who loves the water.
The boys had so much fun playing together and attempting not to get into Cascade Lake. This log extended into the lake and we had our own little pebble beach, with plenty of grassy area to play soccer and run around.
I have to admit that camping in the Pacific Northwest usually means pack the rain gear, but God just blessed us with absolutely gorgeous weather for the entire weekend and it's still MAY! Mom got a bit of sun, but the boys managed to be sunburn free. Sunday afternoon we had time to play in the water, but as you can tell, the water was a bit cold. The child who kept going into the lake with his clothes on, wasn't very keen on the water when he actually could play in the frigid water. I honestly do not blame him one bit.
Since Aaron didn't like the play time in the lake, I warmed up some water and put him in my dish bucket to warm him up. He had a blast and was so mad at me when I took him out.
Andy got a hold of my camera and took this picture. He was so proud of himself that I had to include it. We packed a few cars for the boys to play with and they were on the bench seat.
Poor Charlie. He wasn't doing very well on the trip and this is how he is in turned loved. Sunday night, I had put Aaron in the tent to get him ready for bed and Charlie came in too. I went out to do something and when I came back in, there is Aaron lying on top of the dog who is lying on our air mattress. Luckily I had my camera in my pocket and snapped this picture. Charlie didn't seem to mind too much as Aaron read his book.
