Afternoon at Grasslawn Park

The weather has slowly been warming up this week and today I decided we needed to head to a park for some sunshine and different scenery. Our summer activities are few and far between the planned, so if we want to get together with friends or head to a park, our schedule allows it.

Today we went to Grasslawn Park in Redmond. This park is really easy to get to since it's off of two busy streets and has two separate play areas. We parked by the play structure that the boys really enjoy and had some fun playing for awhile. The bummer part was the toddler play structure was gated off for repairs so Aaron decided he would take a little walk.

Once mom caught up with him, we decided as a group to go down to the other play area as it is supposedly a spray park. Well, I wouldn't necessarily call it a spray "park" as it's more like a water fountain the kids can play in. The boys ran through the water for awhile, but you'll notice that Andy had more fun playing in the water as he is more wet.

Aaron did enjoy the water, but seemed to be more intrigued with walking around and a couple of times he wandered off without telling mom. The first time he walked off, I was able to find him relatively quickly. The second time, I was nursing Jacob and Aaron decided he wanted to walk back up to the other play area.
Once I discovered I could not find Aaron, I nearly hit the panic button. As I mentioned before, the park is near a very busy intersection and I was concerned Aaron would walk up to the street as he doesn't have a fear of vehicles like Andy does. Well, I had the panic look on my face and thankfully, someone noticed that I was looking for someone and came over to help me. He and his wife had seen this little boy walking up the trail by himself and thought it was a little odd. The gal tried to talk to Aaron, but he just kept on walking, little Mr. Stubborn. The gentleman asked me if I was looking for someone and I gave him a description of what Aaron was wearing and he told me he had seen him walk up the path.

I was so very thankful that we had found him as it had been a few minutes that had passed from the last time I had seen him. Of course, Aaron was fine and just wanted to go play somewhere else. I'm not sure going out to a park with three boys by myself is something I want to venture out and do again after today, but I am so truly thankful to God for protecting my boys.

In other news, I found out I'm going to be an aunt come February. My brother and his wife are expecting and I couldn't be more thrilled!
