Happy Father's Day at the Ball Park

The boys and I decided that we would spend Father's Day at Safeco Field celebrating dad. The Mariners were in town and I thought we would try again. My goal was to keep the food consumption to a minimum with the two year so hopefully we could stay for the whole game or at least 75% of the game.

Part of the festivities to celebrate the dad's in our lives was the opportunity to walk around the field. Mike took Aaron down to the field for a little walk and to see some of the players up close.

Aaron posing in front of the Mariner's dugout. I just love this little serious look and those blue, blue eyes. Mom was up in the 3rd level but I was able to pick out that red jacket a couple of times to see where they were on the field.

Mike had fun taking pictures of the players, dugout and here are the phones. Exciting!

The rope around the field to make sure there are no wandering people or little children. I just love all these looks on Aaron, just seriousness. He looks like a quiet, thoughtful child. I'm sure he is at times, but I get the loud, boisterous one most of the time.

You will also notice that the roof was closed. It was a cool, wet, soggy, Sunday afternoon, so the roof was closed. Ah, baseball in Seattle.

And of course, certainly not forgotten, my first born, Andrew. He wanted to hang out with mom and Jacob instead of walking around the baseball field. I think he was just hoping to dig into the lunch mom had brought with us including the bag of potato chips.

It was a fun time at the Safe. We all had a great time and no incidents this time. Jacob's blow outs don't count. :)

Mariner Train Night 2010

This year we bought four seats to a few Mariner games so most of our family would have their own seat and it's baseball, do you really need a reason? Tonight we had seats in the terrace club since it was the train night give-away and it was a pretty good guarantee we would be taking home the next set of the train.

Here is probably one of the first family photos of us as a family of five. Jacob was bundled up in his afghan from great grandma and he was keeping mom warm as well. See it's June and we are still in coats. Come on July 5th! Anyway, if you look closely, Aaron has his sandwich in his hand.

Cheering on the Mariners before the game starts.

Still eating.

Eating, jumping and cheering the Mariners on.

Unfortunately, all this cheering and eating lead to an untimely demise and the Sorensen family left during the 2nd inning of the game. So the lesson of the day was to just purchase the cheap seats, don't pay for parking and don't feed the animals, or at least the super excited two year old.

If only Aaron had puked on mom, it would have turned out different. Live and learn and don't feed the middle child if he's bouncing around excited.

And yes, we came home with four train pieces. Now to hide them or the boys will open them up to play with.

The Youngest Fan

I do believe we have the youngest fan at the Mariner's opening day game at Safeco Field. Jacob is ten days old today and it's been a few years since we have made it to opening day, so this year we bought tickets and took the boys to the Safe.
Of course, Aaron was so excited, I'm sure he peed in his diaper several times. He expressed vocally how excited he was that we were going to a baseball game. The entire ride on I-90 was Aaron stating, "baseball game, baseball game." When we arrived in Seattle and saw the stadium, his levels just rose and it's a good thing he was strapped down in his car seat or he might have jumped out of his seat. Once we finally parked and made our way into the stadium, the boys were just taking in all the sites, sounds and various events taking place.

Our seats were pretty good too, we were upper deck, but had the front row in the section, so Aaron stood the entire time. Andy went back and forth from standing to sitting and smothering Jacob when Jacob made an appearance out of the blanket.

Of course, one of the best parts of the game is the grounds crew dancing. It is a rare occasion when several of them come out to dance between innings. Usually happens on big games like opening day or when the Red Sox's or Yankee's are in town.

It was a bummer the M's lost the first home game, but I had two very excited boys that had a ton of fun and were asking when we were going back again. Lucky for them, we are going at least five more times and who knows, maybe more.

A Night Out At The Baseball Game

One summer Friday evening, Mike and I took the boys to the baseball game. Of course the catch was the Seattle Mariners were giving away the second commercial dvd and since we have the first one, we most definitely needed the second one. Surprisingly, the weather was a bit on the cool side but it didn't seem to bother anyone.

At the beginning of the game, the view from our seats.

Andy and Mike enjoying the game together. It cracks me up how Andy wears his glasses some days, but it doesn't seem to bother him too much if he looks over his glasses rather than through them. We took our own dinner into the game and Andy munched on chips and cookies for most of the evening. I could not believe the entire bag of Doritos was gone by the 6th inning.

And of course, my little Aaron with cookie crumbs all over his face. Aaron was more interested in seeing the trains than watching the baseball game. We happen to sit closer to the train tracks and according to Mike, this was the first time Aaron had figured out there were trains nearby.

Overall, it was a fun family outing to see our local major league baseball team. The M's had a better season this year, but unfortunately didn't make it into the playoffs. Oh well, there is always next year.

I Can Play Ball Too

Summer means baseball especially in our household. Mike is a Mariner's fan and just a baseball fan all around and is teaching his boys to love the game as well. Andy has had a t-ball set for a year now and now Aaron is old enough to be interested and wants to give it a try as well.

Mike was outside with the boys playing, so I grabbed some video of my guys playing together.
